- Preliminary Examination
The Preliminary Examination is the first step in the Civil Services journey. It consists of two compulsory papers, both designed to assess a candidate's general awareness and aptitude.

- Papers:
- Paper-I: General Studies (200 Marks)
- Paper-II: Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) (200 Marks)
- Duration: Each paper is two hours long.
- Question Type: Both papers consist of objective-type (multiple-choice) questions.
- Important Notes:
- Paper-II (CSAT) is a qualifying paper. Candidates must secure at least 33% marks to qualify.
- The question papers are available in Hindi and English.

- Main Examination

Optional Subjects
Candidates can select their optional subject from a wide range of disciplines, including but not limited to History, Geography, Public Administration, Literature, Political Science, and Sociology. Each optional subject has two papers (Paper-VI and Paper-VII).
- Personality Test
After clearing the Main Examination, candidates are called for the Personality Test, also known as the Interview. This test carries 275 Marks and assesses:

- Leadership qualities
Grand Total
The final tally combines marks from the Written Examination (1750 Marks) and the Personality Test (275 Marks), totaling 2025 Marks.
