UPSC CAPF AC Eligibility Criteria
UPSC CAPF is a highly competitive exam that requires candidates to meet certain eligibility criteria. Before applying for this exam, one should understand the UPSC CAPF Eligibility Criteria set by the UPSC. The eligibility criteria for UPSC CAPF can be broadly categorized into educational qualification, age limit, and physical standards
Nationality
To be eligible for the Assistant Commandant examination, candidates must meet specific nationality requirements outlined in the UPSC CAPF Eligibility Criteria:
- Indian Citizenship: Candidates must be citizens of India.
- Bhutanese and Nepalese Citizens: Citizens of Bhutan and Nepal are also eligible to apply for the UPSC CAPF examination.
UPSC CAPF Age Limit
The lower age limit for the CAPF exam is 20 years and the upper age limit is less than 25 years. The age is calculated from August 1 of the exam year. The upper age limit prescribed above will be relaxable for certain categories.

UPSC CAPF Educational Qualifications
Candidates need a Bachelor‟s degree from a recognized university or institution to be eligible for the CAPF exam. The degree must be from a government-recognized university or an institute established by an Act of Legislature. Degrees granted by universities established under a Parliamentary Act or Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, are also accepted. Candidates with technical or professional degrees from recognized institutions are eligible as per CAPF criteria.
Possession of NCC ‘B’ or ‘C’ Certificates
The candidates having the NCC „B‟ or „C‟ Certificate will be a desirable qualification. These qualifications will be given consideration at the time of the Interview/Personality Test only.
UPSC CAPF AC 2024 Physical Standards
There are certain physical and medical standards prescribed by the UPSC CAPF. The minimum standards that a candidate has to fulfill are given below.

Limits of Refractive errors permitted: -4.00 D (including cylinder) Myopia, +4.00 D (including cylinder) Hypermetropia. Colour Perception-III (CP-III) by ISIHARA plates.
CAPF AC Eligibility Criteria: Body Tattoo
To be eligible for the UPSC CAPF Exam with tattoos, follow these guidelines:
- Content: Tattoos with religious symbols, figures, or names are allowed, similar to practices in the Indian Army.
- Tattoo Placement: Tattoos on common body parts like the inner forearm (especially the left forearm since it‟s a non-saluting limb) or the back of the hands are acceptable.
- Size Limit: Ensure the tattoo size is less than ¼ of the respective body part, such as the elbow or hand.

Carrying Angle | Males: Carrying angle should be 15 degrees. Females: Carrying angle should be 20 degrees. |
Ear | No deafness or chronic ear discharge. – Ear canal must be free from conditions like meatal atresia, exostosis, tumors. – No history of recurring earache, tinnitus, or vertigo. |
Nose | No DNS (deviated nasal septum), atrophic rhinitis, tuberculous ulceration, or chronic sinusitis |
Neck | No swollen lymph nodes, thyroid or other neck swellings. – Able to fully extend the neck without difficulty. – No signs of spinal or cervical vertebral disease |
Teeth | Adequate number of healthy teeth for proper mastication. |
Venereal Disease | No history of venereal disease. – No clinical signs or indications of active venereal disease |
Chronic Skin Disorders | No chronic skin diseases such as leprosy, chronic eczema, dermatitis, widespread Pityriasis Versicolor, psoriasis, SLE, or other skin conditions |
UPSC CAPF Eligibility Criteria : Important Points
Here are some key points to consider when applying for the UPSC CAPF exam:
- Age Requirement: Candidates must be between 20 to 25 years old.
- Age Relaxations: Different categories of candidates have relaxation in the upper age limit.
- Educational Qualification: Your Bachelor‟s degree should be recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
- Pregnancy: Female candidates beyond 12 weeks of pregnancy are temporarily ineligible until childbirth is completed.
- Heart Rate: Candidates should have a normal heart rate, not too fast (tachycardia) or too slow (bradycardia).
- Medical Conditions: Candidates should not have hernia, haemorrhoids, or certain rectal conditions.
- Health Requirements: Candidates must be physically and mentally fit to perform their duties effectively without any disability
